Any other app makes both my Macs crash: kernel panic, pink screen, shut down and reboot.ĤK discs can be played by the Leawo software too, but in my case it doesn't work: the drive keeps "loading." the disc. The only free software that plays Blu-ray well is Leawo FREE Blu-ray Player Mac AnyMP4 Blu-ray Player for Mac works, but the free version has an obtrusive watermark. It comes with an app to tweak some settings, to make the silent mode automatic etc. It runs quietly and has a very good overall quality. It’s almost as bad as what keeps happening to Harrison Ford’s wives/family.I bought a Pioneer external drive, Model BDR-XS07TUHD It's plug and play, works both with my M1 iMac & M1 MacBook Air, no need to plug the Air to the main AC. (But, seriously guys, stop kidnapping Liam Neeson’s family. I have never seen Taken 2 or Taken 3, but I figured for $18 that works out to $6/movie and I can probably squeeze out $6 worth of enjoyment out of each of them. For example, I am currently ripping the “Taken” trilogy which I got from Amazon for $18 when Apple, et al wanted $15 per movie for the digital version.
This, of course, makes no sense, but such is the world in which we live. It’s still frequently possible to find good deals on Blu-Rays (often with “digital codes” for MoviesAnywhere) much cheaper than buying the digital copies themselves. I don’t watch Blu-Rays on my Mac, I use MakeMKV to make MKVs of them and then throw them on my Plex server. However, I think if I was going to get one today I would look at portable blu-ray drives are available at OWC/ as my first stop. I have what I believe to be an older version of this drive Archgon Premium Aluminum External USB 3.0 UHD 4K Blu-Ray.
